| Close to being wild
I own
five dogs. One is a pure bred Canaan dog, the other
a Nigerian street dog. The other three are their offspring.
These types of dog are still very close to the wild.
Thus, their instincts are very strong – especially
their predisposition to flight if confronted. They
are very sensitive to new environments/situations – and
also very territorial.
My dogs are very loving toward me and those they trust – but
I wanted an even better, more confident, relationship
with them. I felt that I needed help with their management.
For example my bitch, Sirius, showed aggression toward
dogs she would meet on walks and my dogs had territorial
difficulties with tradesmen calling at the house.
Sue has dealt with this unusual breed in a sensitive
and imaginative way which has resulted in all my dogs
being calmer, less wild, and more responsive. They are
very good with the tradesmen now. They also look to me
with eagerness and confidence.
I can now take Sirius for a walk with confidence and
without the former hoping that I won’t meet other
dogs.
I would like to add that I have now been training with
Sue for some time and, especially after a busy week,
I find I look forward to my hour as it is a great antidote
for stress.
